Welcome to the online home of the
Celestine Volunteer Fire Department
The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department is located in Southern Indiana and serves approximately 45 square miles of eastern Dubois County. Included in this area are portions of Marion and Hall Townships, and also a small portion of the Patoka Lake State Recreation Area in Crawford and Orange Counties. CVFD is a full volunteer fire department that offers both fire suppression and first responder services to the areas stated above with an average of 65 alarms per year.
-Proudly serving Celestine, Indiana and the surrounding areas since 1979
-2014 Kenworth Ferrara Fire Apparatus Pumper
We're happy to say we've got the new truck at the station loaded with hose and ready to respond! Thanks to all who donated, especially the Town of Celestine Inc., TransCanada Corporation, and the Dubois County Community Foundation.
- Retirements and new members
At the end of 2016 the last active founding member, Eugene Burke, decided it was time to step away from the fire service. Along with Eugene, Blake Schroering and Brad Knies also announced their retirement after 9 and 25 years of service respectively. These three members will be greatly missed as they each brought their own special talents to serve the department. While each of these members will be tough to replace, we have had the opportunity to hire four new members, who are Grant Knies, Lance Thewes, Josh Vaal, and Brandon Verkamp. One of them has already obtained all required certifications and the remaining three have just begun working towards obtaining theirs. We look forward to working with these new members and are confident that they will all be very valuable assets to the department.
- Celestine's 175th Celebration
In 2018 the Celestine community will be celebrating it's 175th birthday and we would like to invite everyone to join us in helping the community celebrate this milestone!
