Our current (ISO) rating is 5/5X. This is an improvement over our previous rating of 6/6X, so if you are quoting or changing insurance you may advise your providing of these ratings.
We currently have two Class A pumpers; each with a 1,000 gallon tank and 1,250 gal/min flow rate, on tanker with a capacity of 1,800 gallons, and a Type 6 brush truck with a water capacity of 225 gallons. This makes for a total of 4,025 gallons of water taken to a fire during the initial responce. We also have a light rescue with which we provide BLS and basic rescue services in conjunction with Memorial Hospital and Health Care Centers Ambulance Service. All training records, certification records, and policies are available for review at the station.
The first official meeting of the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department was called to order by Fire Chief Jim Roshone on January 7th, 1980. This was the beginning of what we are proud to say we have today.
July 13th, 1979 - Articles of Corporation
Fall 1979 - Construction of three bay fire station begins
January 7th, 1980 – First meeting held at new station
June 15th, 1980 – Operations officially begin
Summer 1983 - First tractor pull held
January 1985 – First group of First Responders begin training
September 1989 – Purchased departments first set of extrication equipment
Fall 1994 - Construction of 4th bay addition begins
